2009 Campbell Corner Poetry Prize

Campbell Corner at the Sarah Lawrence Language Exchange announces its eleventh Annual Poetry Contest. Poems that treat larger themes with lyric intensity are especially welcomed by the judges.

The Campbell Corner Poetry Contest offers a prize of $3,000. Winners are invited to give a public reading at the College. The poems will be published in the Poetry Contest Section of the Sarah Lawrence Language Exchange.

All entries for Campbell Corner’s eleventh poetry contest must be postmarked by March 15, 2009. Omit author’s name on manuscript and include a cover sheet with name, address, phone, and e-mail. Maximum length for submissions is 20 pages. Entrants must submit their poems in three printed copies. The entry fee is $25; checks should be made payable to Sarah Lawrence College. Previously published work is accepted, but when and where published should be noted on the cover sheet.

CALL FOR POETRY: Her Mark 2010

WMG is looking to showcase a variety of compelling, sensitive, and provocative poetry by women for the annual HER MARK publication. All themes and styles are welcome. Selected poems will be featured together with visual art in a bound publication. The publication is 5x 7 ; poems submitted should be able to fit on one page of this size.

Poetry Juror: Maureen Seaton

Maureen Seaton has won numerous prizes for her poetry, including an NEA fellowship, the Lambda Literary Award, the Iowa Poetry Prize, the Audre Lorde Award, and the Pushcart Prize. She has facilitated poetry workshops at Columbia College Chicago, the School of the Art Institute, and at Woman Made Gallery. In
1995/1996, she curated a reading series entitled “Woman As Culture” for the Gallery. Maureen Seaton teaches poetry and literary collage at the University of Miami, Florida.

Non-refundable $15 entry fee must be sent with the entry. Checks should be made out to the Community Library.

Cash prize of $500.

First place winner will be published on this website.

Entries must be previously unpublished, original work, typed double spaced, and no longer than 2600 words or 10 pages. One entry per person.

Attach a separate cover sheet with title, author name, address, email, and telephone numbers.

The story itself should not bear anything but the title and page numbers.

May re-submit a non-winning entry from 2008.

Deadline for submission: May 31, 2009

The symposium reserves one-time rights to print the winner on the website.
