The Writer’s 2011 Short-Story Contest

In partnership with Gotham Writers’ Workshop, The Writer invites submissions of creative, unpublished short stories up to 2,000 words.
The top three entries will receive cash prizes of $1,000/$300/$200. The first-prize winner will also receive a free 10-week online creative-writing workshop from Gotham Writers’ Workshop and publication in The Writer; second- and third-place winners receive free enrollment in “How to Get Published,” a four-week online seminar taught online by a literary agent and Gotham Writers’ Workshop. The entry fee is $10 for each story submitted and the deadline is April 30, midnight EST. Finalists judge is Michelle Wildgen, novelist and executive editor at Tin House.
