Call for Creative Writing Submissions at Zymbol

Zymbol accepts work inspired by Symbolism & Surrealism year-round.
Currently reading for S/S 2014: Exploration of radicalism, deviancy and surrealism. Outsider thinking and artistic expression.We welcome submissions that transcend the boundaries of genre and form—as long as the “form” you’re transcending isn’t one of our supported file formats.

  • Art and Graphic Storytelling Guidelines

    Zymbol accepts submissions of visual art and graphic storytelling year-round. Email work in .jpg, .pdf or .tiff format to editor@zymbolmag.com with the subject line “A/G SUBMISSION.” Please keep files under 10MB (if accepted, we will ask you for the large high-quality file).

  • Poetry Guidelines

    We strongly recommend submitting .doc or .docx files written in 12-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced (.pdf format is acceptable for works that require special formatting). We accept up to 5 poems per submission. If submitting multiple poems, please put your last name and the number of poems submitted in the “Submission Title” field; for example: “Smith, 5 Poems.” Simultaneous submissions are fine—please notify us immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere. Zymbol will consider work previously self-published or posted to a personal blog. We endeavor to respond to submissions within 10 weeks; you can log into the submissions manager to check on the status of your submission. If you encounter any technical problems, email us at tech@zymbolmag.com.

  • Fiction, Memoir, and Essay Guidelines

    We strongly recommend submitting .doc or .docx files written in 12-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced (.pdf format is acceptable for works that require special formatting). Submissions under 7,000 words are given preference over longer works; however, the editors will consider works of exceptional merit up to 10,000 words. Simultaneous submissions are fine—please notify us immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere. Zymbol will consider work previously self-published or posted to a personal blog. We endeavor to respond to submissions within 10 weeks; you can log into the submissions manager to check on the status of your submission.
