Dream Quest One Poetry & Writing Contest – Summer 2014

The Dream Quest One Poetry & Writing Contest is open to anyone who enjoys expressing their innermost thoughts and feelings into the beautiful literary art of poetry and/or writing a story that is worth telling everyone. Welcome to all having the ability to dream… Write a poem or short story for a chance to win cash prizes totaling $1275.00! All works must be original.

Write a poem, thirty lines or fewer on any subject, style, or form, typed or neatly hand printed.
And/or write a short story, five pages maximum length, on any subject or theme, fiction or non-fiction (including essay compositions, diary, journal entries and screenwriting). Also, all entries must be typed or legibly hand printed.
Multiple and simultaneous poetry and short story entries are accepted.
Postmark deadline: July 31, 2014
All winners will be announced on September 20, 2014
Prizes:
Writing First Prize is $500. Second: $250. Third: $100.
Poetry First Prize is $250. Second: $125. Third: $50.
Entry fees: $10 per story, $5 per poem

ON THE SAME PAGE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES OPENING OF 2014 WRITER’S COMPETITION

West Jefferson, NC – Ashe County’s On the Same Page Literary Festival, now in its seventh year, is opening the Festival’s annual writing competition. In association with the 2014 Festival, which will take place September 16-20 in Ashe County, NC, the Page Crafter’s Prize recognizes writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry with cash awards. Winning writers will have the opportunity to read their work during the On the Same Page Literary Festival.
The Page Crafter’s competition is designed to encourage and acknowledge emerging writers and to reinforce the On the Same Page Literary Festival’s commitment of celebrating the creation of new work.
Page Crafter’s Prizes will be awarded for first and second place in fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Prize money totaling $900 will be presented: $200 for first place, $100 for second place, in each category.
Deadline for submissions is July 17, 2014, (postmarked snail mail or email submissions) and winners will be notified by August 21, 2014. Prose entries are limited to 1,000-words; no more than 50 lines of poetry will be accepted. A non-refundable entry fee of $10 (U.S.) per submission is required. There is no limit to the number of entries per person.

The Festival’s website, www.onthesamepagefestival.org , provides further details, including format requirements for the blind-copy submission process. Only previously unpublished entries qualify. Authors retain all rights to submitted works. Winners need not be present to win, but are encouraged to attend the Festival and read their work at the Saturday, September 20, 2014, 2:30 p.m. Page Crafter’s award presentations.

Claim A $800 Cash Award For Your Unpublished Novel

A $800 cash prize can be won for a debut novel

in the Writers’ Village International Novel award,

Deadline: 30th June 2014

Novels that have previously been self-published are also eligible.

The winning author will be assessed by international literary agency

A. M. Heath for possible representation.

The top eight contestants will receive personal feedback on their novels by the judge,

novelist Michelle Spring, Royal Literary Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Entries are welcome worldwide.
