Kids Writing Contest – Open to Canadian Residents

Kids Write 4 Kids is excited to launch its third annual writing contest!  This year, we are seeking out students in grades 4 to 8 share their creative stories. Selected story (or stories) will be published as an e-book.

Over the last two years our panel of judges have selected six authors. Each author has their ebook available on iBookstore, Amazon Kindle and Kobo. The selected story (or stories) will be published as an e-book, and proceeds from its sale will go to support the author’s school. E-books are sold for $3.99 and net proceeds for all KW4K books sold in 2015 will be donated to the school(s) of this year’s author. Entries are accepted online only.   • To be eligible, authors must be enrolled full-time in an educational institute in Canada
  • Authors must be in grades 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8
  • Stories must be original and written entirely by the author
  • Only one entry per author will be accepted; all subsequent entries will be disqualified
  • Only single author stories qualify (no co-authored stories)
  • Stories are accepted in English only
  • Stories can be fact or fiction, prose or poetry
  • Stories will be published in their original format, so please check spelling, etc. prior to submitting
  • There are no entry fee and no purchase is necessary
  • Story must have a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 7,500 words.
  • The word count includes “a,” “an,” and “the,” but not the words on non-story pages such as the title page or those captions for illustrations or photography.
  • Invented spelling is accepted.
  • Story must be typed and submitted as Word .doc
  • Optional images including photography can be submitted to accompany the story but must be original images created by the author
  • All images must be scanned and submitted in .jpg file format
  • Please keep original copies of images, if your story is selected a representative from Ripple Digital Publishing will contact you to obtain original images

Submission deadline: March 31, 2015.

Moby Reading’s “Best Ever” Children’s Story Contest

2000-2500 word short stories on the topic of your choice written at a 5th or 6th grade level.

Contest Text:

Moby Reading is curating stories for it’s popular web-based reading curriculum. In addition to awarding over $3,000 in prize money for great children’s stories, winning stories will be published and read by millions of students across the nation.
We will accept the top 30 stories, and multiple submissions are welcome. We will be accepting stories on a rolling basis, so you are encouraged to submit as early as possible. Upon acceptance of your story, we will immediately pay you $100 and be eligible to win an additional $400 for our grand prize contest.

Submission Guidelines:

Submissions are due by February 24, 2013, but we will accept stories on a rolling basis, so you are encouraged to submit early.

You may submit multiple stories, and win multiple $100 prizes.

You must own all rights to your story and transfer all rights to us if your story is accepted.

You will be named as the author on the title page and receive subsequent feedback ratings from students across the United States. If your stories are rated highly, you will have an opportunity to continue writing for Moby.
Refer to for samples texts of 5th and 6th grade appropriate stories (page 63 and 77).


If one or more of your stories is accepted, you will be paid immediately through PayPal.

You will need to sign a contract transferring all rights to us and if a U.S. citizen, send a W-9 form.

Payment will be made immediately after the story is accepted and we receive a signed contract and W-9 Form.

The Grand Prize winner will be paid on March 1, 2013 and will receive an additional $400 in addition to the $100 paid upon acceptance.

The Radiant Peace Education Awards – Fall 2012

All students in grades 1-8 — from public and private schools, home schools, youth and after-school groups, and abroad — are welcome to enter the Fall 2012 national program of The Radiant Peace Education Awards®! The Radiant Peace Education Awards program gives students an opportunity to express themselves about Radiant Peace in their lives.

This year’s entries must be postmarked by December 11, 2012, with winners being announced in January 2013. All participants receive beautiful iron-on Radiant Peace Patches, and outstanding entries will also receive certificates and cash awards! Winner’s classrooms will also receive cash awards. In addition, many of the most creative or exceptional entries will be displayed in The International Museum of Radiant Peace.
