Ploughshares Emerging Writers Contest 2016

Deadline: May 15, 2016 – at noon EST

In the spirit of the journal’s founding mission,

the Ploughshares Emerging Writer’s Contest

recognizes work by an emerging writer

in each of three genres: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

One winner in each genre per year will receive $1,000

and publication in the literary journal. 

We consider writers “emerging” if they have not published

or self-published a book. 

Submit three to five pages of poetry or up to 6,000 words of prose

with a $24 entry fee

(there is no entry fee for current subscribers),

which includes a subscription to Ploughshares,

by May 15, 2016 at noon EST.

Ploughshares Emerging Writer’s Contest

A prize of $1,000 and publication in Ploughshares will be given to work by an

emerging writer in each of three genres-fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. 

Writers who haven’t published or self-published a book can submit 3-5 poems

or under 6,000 words of prose with a $24 entry fee

(which includes a one-year subscription to Ploughshares) .

Deadline: April 2, 2013 at 12 noon EST. 

The entry fee is waived for writers subscribed to Ploughshares through Winter 2013.
