Up to fifty additional writers will be selected for publication, complete with an author’s byline.

10 Runners-up will receive a guest post on the Travelnitch blog.

Description

We’re on the hunt for exceptional writers who can contribute to our debut publication — travel enthusiasts, bloggers, global nomads. If you had a memorable experience abroad that will engage our young readers, please share. Exotic destinations, humorous anecdotes, and cultural quirks, all in 1,000 words or less.

There are no entry fees, but we are seeking original, quality work that aligns with our mission to “turn bookworms into global explorers, connecting kids with a world of adventure.”

Description

Both previously published and unpublished works are eligible, provided that publication on the Lazuli Literary Group website does not infringe on previously held rights. A cover letter is not required and will not affect the success of your submission. ​We want work that grows in complexity upon each visitation; we enjoy ornate, cerebral, and voluptuous prose or poetry executed with thematic intent. Writers we admire are Zadie Smith, Virginia Woolf, Tom Wolfe, Jorge Luis Borges, Charles Dickens, Toni Morrison, Thomas Mann, Robert Musil, Tom Stoppard, John Keene, and James Baldwin.

Description

Hamlin Garland Award for the Short Story

Description

Entries must be works of fiction of 7,000 words or less. The judge for this year’s contest is Bonnie Nadzam, author of Lions: A Novel.

“Established 1985, the Beloit Fiction Journal publishes the best in contemporary short fiction. Traditional and experimental narratives find a home in our pages. We publish new writers alongside established writers. Our fiction-only format allows us to consider very long as well as very short stories. We occasionally publish excerpts.”

I Can Not – a poetry contest

Write a poem that begins with the words “I can’t”.

Words do not need to be in quotes.

Can add words and change capitalization.

For example “I can’t believe”.

All poetry types accepted.

Any length accepted.

The winner takes away a $100 cash prize.

Full-length poetry manuscripts (55-page minimum, 90+ pages preferred) will be considered. Poems may be previously published in journals and/or anthologies, but not in full-length, single-author volumes. All poets are eligible to enter, regardless of publishing history.
